Inner Motion

This is an interactive projection mapping project, that was presented in the festival Les Nuits De Bassins (Nights at the Lake) in Arras, France 2024. The theme for the festival was "sport", so my team and I decided to create a visual representation of what happens inside the body when we move.

On the left we see a visual of the skin and the sweat (perspiration) that's formed and evaporated when we exercise.

Next on the right we have the arteries, in which exercise stimulates the growth of new blood vessels

Next we have the brain, where exercise improves the efficiency of neural communication.

Lastly we have a visual of the muscles, in which movement causes small tears in muscle fibers, which then repair to strengthen the muscles.

This is an interactive project. This means that when people were moving their hands in front of the projections, we had motion sensors (kinects) that detected them. In real time, the software translated these movements into visuals and sounds. In the end, a dance between the people and the projections was formed, creating a fun environment for people of all ages.

This project was made in Touchdesigner using 2 Kinects and one projector, with the amazing collaboration of Flora Cattrell and Veronika Ipserova.
