SuperFab!
Meet SuperFab. He's the Superhero of every creature in the world..He's happy, proud and ofcourse, fabulous! His superpower is that he doesn't even break a sweat when the world judges, attacks or diminishes him. He just walks with pride and lets his superfabulsness to shine upon his enemies. When you feel as if the whole world is turned against you, Superfab is there to tell you to just... fab it!
First episode of SuperFab
Started as a walk cycle exercise, Superfab evolved into a character with it's own personality. In this video, I showcase the process I followed to create him, his character designs and storyboard for his first appearance.
The sound on the video in the beginning is me singing and stomping my head on the table. Later in the video, the sound I used is from an actual protest in Athens, Greece on November 2009.
What drove me to create this character is the injustice I was witnessing on my everyday life. Police brutality, homophobia, racism are only a few causes of violent incidents that made me want to scream "enough". It was time for a new hero. Someone who wouldn't use violence as a weapon against violence. Someone who would teach people to get rid of their backwards stereotypes and break any toxic masculinity standards.
Second episode of SuperFab
The next video I created was similar to the first. I used an actual audio of a woman screaming homophobic slurs during gay pride in Manchester on July 2019. In my version, Superfab transforms her to her most fabulous self to stop all the yelling!
I changed the characters colors because I didn't want him to have the same colours as Superman. This whole idea may have been a take on a more fabulous Superman, but SuperFab ended up becoming so much more than that.
In the coming future, I'm planning on using this character for either a game or his own series, or merchendise
